We all got up around 6:30 am.  Andrew is getting off today and heading back home.  Paul called customs.  They first said to call them back at 8:15.  Then they said they would be sending some one out in 5 minutes to clear us.  Well by 10:00 am they finally showed up.  The customs lady looked at our passports and asked a few questions.  We were good to go.  We talked to Bill on Saphire for a while.  Then Paul, Dan, and I were off to Worton Creek.  This is were we will be dropping Dan off.  We have 160 miles ahead of us.  We were on our way around 11:30 am.  It was a lot later then we planed.  I made us grilled ham and swiss cheese sandwiches on rye for lunch.  We decided to stick to three hour shifts.  I ended up with 6-9, 3-6, and 12-3.  We decided to stay in or close to the channel t

It was a long cold evening.  We managed to get out of the gulf stream.  We are heading to Hampton.  We are about 70 miles away from the channel marker entrance.  We tried to sail in the morning, but were not making much progress.  Another motor job.  We had grilled cheese and tomato soup for lunch.  It really hit the spot on a chilly day.  Everyone caught up on some much needed sleep today.  By 6:00 pm we were at the channel marker.  The current was going with us.  We were going 7 knots on 2400 RPM's.  Paul made filet's for dinner.  As it started to get dark we were going up the major shipping channel.  There were boats anchored and moving all over.  It was challenging to figure out what was moving and not.  We had no issue and made it into Blue Water Yacht Center around 11

The storms finally stopped around 5:30 am.  We were in them for about 8 and half hours.  The wind was blowing 10 to 15 knots out of the south east.  We were in the gulf stream as well.  The current was pushing us ahead with a 2 knot current.  So, we were going 7 knots on 2200 RPM's.  I warmed up sticky buns for breakfast.  Around 9:00 am we put the genoa out, killed the engine, and was going 7.7 knots.  We put the fishing line out.  Everyone is tried and is trying to catch up on some sleep.  I saw 12 sport fishing vessels this morning and we have been seeing tankers and cruise ships too.  A storm has been building since 2:30 pm.  We pulled the genoa in and turned the motor on.  We were able to dodge the storm.  We are about 36 miles off of Cape Hatteras.  We were sailing about 8 knots. 

Friday April 13, 2011.  We woke up around 7:00 am and was feeling well rested.  We wanted to get out of the slip so we would be able to flow with the tide out.  We got out of the slip around 8:30 am.  Paul backed Moonshadow perfectly out of the slip and we were off again.  Next destination the Chesapeake Bay.  The winds are blowing 10 to 15 knots out of the South East.  Perfect!  There is another front we have to go through today.  It has been lightening pretty far away from us for a while now.  At least it is not close!  Everyone is feeling refreshed.  We have about a 4 day trip ahead of us.  In the afternoon we had some decent sailing.  We made blacken blue burgers for dinner on the grill.  They were awesome.  The wind had died to 8 to 10 knots out of the south and we were averaging 5.8 k

Well we were able to sail all night!  we are sailing along at 5.5 knots.  The wind is blowing 12 to 18 knots out of the north east.  Great sailing day!  We are about 50 miles away from Cape Fear.  We are planning to go to Southport Marina.  There is a 3 knot current through the channel.  So, we are planning to go into the channel at slack tide.  That way we will only have .5 knot current to deal with.  We got to Southport Marina at 12:30 pm and didn't run out of fuel!  We pulled up to the fuel dock and filled up both fuel tanks along with all jerry cans aboard.  The diesel was only $4.00 per gallon and already had treatment in it.  We ended up with a total of 101 gallons of diesel.  Next they moved us into a slip for the evening.  Beer Time!!  We all went over to check in.  The one gentleman that
